Sin Ti is a new movie project that celebrates bachata dancing and the amazing bachata dance community in Colorado.
Brief Synopsis
Feeling trapped in her grief after her brother’s death, Paloma Garcia is introduced to bachata dancing by Ms. Schmidt, an instructor at her community college in Eastern Colorado. When she fails the audition to join Danielle’s bachata team, she decides to form her own team, with José, Maria, Juan, Naomi, Chen, and Bob. Although Danielle, the school’s star performer, strives to make Paloma even more miserable, Paloma finds freedom and solace in learning to dance bachata. She reconciles with her father and begins to fall in love with José. Paloma risks certain humiliation to compete at Bachata-Fest Denver, where she is finally accepted by Colorado’s inspiring bachata community.

Narrator – This is not an actual role. We need someone to read the screen directions. PRE-CAST.
Paloma Garcia – Protagonist (21), a determined Latina, haunted by grief, who dares to dream of living a better life.
Danielle Brandt – Antagonist (22), an ambitious perfectionist who loves performing; with blond hair and blue eyes, she’s the definition of glamour.
José Rodriguez – Paloma’s friend (23) and team member; he becomes her provocative romantic interest.
Maria Lopez – Paloma’s friend (21) and team member; Juan’s girlfriend, tends to be polite and quiet.
Juan Sanchez – Paloma’s friend (21) and team member; Maria’s boyfriend, hardworking and kind.
Naomi Davis – Paloma’s friend (22) and team member; shares her feelings with abandon.
Chen Zhao – Paloma’s friend (19) and team member; energetic Chinese student, likes to make people laugh.
Bob Owens – Paloma’s team member (19), with the timidity of a field mouse.

What to Expect
We plan to have two rehearsals before the Staged Reading, for basic blocking, role refinement, and practice together. Please let us know if you are not available for either of these rehearsals. Do not apply if you can’t be available on September 19, 2026, from 11 AM to 2 PM for the Staged Reading Performance. Actors will have scripts to read from during the Staged Reading. We’re going to videotape the performance and make this available to those who participate.
Instructions
We want to see a 30-second contemporary comedic or dramatic monologue of your choice. (It does not have to be memorized.) Also, be prepared to give a brief introduction. For Option 1, email Michael to schedule a time slot for your audition. For Option 2, email Michael with a link to your video, including your introduction and monologue. Please call Michael with any questions and leave a message.
